Result 1: Improved Access to Employment
The project contributes to the generation of greater opportunities for decent employment and self-employment by supporting national institutions in conducting training, provision of mentorship support and matching skilled labour with local companies.
The project also provides direct support to new businesses by procuring necessary equipment for up to 40 businesses in their most vulnerable star-up phase. In cooperation with the Agency for Promotion of Entrepreneurship of the Republic of North Macedonia and in the frames of the 2019 Operational Plan for Employment, 23 unemployed persons from two underdeveloped regions attended entrepreneurship and business skills development training. 20 business plans were developed and each entrepreneur received a grant of 5,300 USD for procurement of essential equipment to support their business. Upon delivery of the equipment procured by UNOPS, 20 new businesses were opened employing 20 persons.
The activities within this result are financed by Norway.
